How are the Franko cards shipped and how long does delivery take?

Franko fish ID cards and dive site maps qualify for free shipping via Canada Post letter mail — they ship flat in a rigid mailer and typically arrive within 5 to 10 business days across Canada, though delivery times can vary by region. If you need a card for an upcoming trip and have less than 10 business days, select standard tracked shipping at checkout to ensure timely delivery. Cards ordered with other items ship together with the regular order — the free letter mail option applies only when the card is ordered alone or with other letter-mail-eligible items. Can I use these cards to identify fish while I am actually diving?

Yes — that is exactly what they are designed for. The rigid waterproof plastic construction means they can be used underwater without any protective sleeve or pouch. The most practical approach is to tuck the card under your wetsuit sleeve or into a BCD pocket before the dive, pull it out when you encounter something you want to identify, and replace it when done. The mini (4 x 6 inch) Franko cards fit easily in a wetsuit sleeve or a small BCD pocket. The larger format cards are better reviewed at the surface or on the boat between dives rather than used actively underwater. A dive slate is useful alongside the fish ID card — jot down a quick sketch of what you saw, then look it up properly on the boat or at the hotel.
