High Quality Gear -  Divemaster & Instructor tested and approved

Buy drysuit accessories and replacement parts in Canada — seal kits, zipper lubricant, drysuit hangers, valve service kits, dry glove ring systems, undergarment socks and liners, and maintenance supplies. Keeping your drysuit properly maintained protects a significant investment and ensures the suit performs reliably in cold Canadian water. A well-maintained drysuit with properly conditioned seals and a clean zipper will last many years; a neglected one can develop costly problems within a single season.

Frequently asked questions

What zipper lubricant should I use on my drysuit zipper?

Use only lubricants specifically formulated for drysuit zippers — paraffin-based zipper wax is the most common and widely recommended option. Apply it to the teeth of the zipper by running the wax along both sides of the teeth before closing, then work the zipper back and forth a few times to distribute it evenly. Never use petroleum-based lubricants such as WD-40 or silicone spray on drysuit zippers — these can degrade the zipper material and seals over time. For metal zippers, a product like Gear Aid (formerly McNett) Zip Tech is purpose-formulated and safe. Lubricate before every dive day and whenever the zipper feels stiff rather than smooth.

How do I store my drysuit between dive seasons?

Never fold and pack a drysuit for long-term storage — creasing the material, particularly at the zipper and seals, can cause permanent deformation or cracking. Hang the suit on a wide, padded drysuit hanger in a cool, dark location away from direct sunlight and ozone sources such as electric motors and fluorescent lights. Both UV and ozone degrade latex seals significantly faster than normal wear. Store the zipper slightly open or fully open — not compressed closed under tension (check your suit's manufacturer recommendations for best zipper storage). Before your first dive of the new season, inspect all seals, valves, and the zipper before entering the water.

What is a dry glove ring system and can it be added to my existing drysuit?

A dry glove ring system replaces the standard wrist seal with a hard plastic or metal ring assembly bonded to the suit material. A waterproof glove attaches to the ring via a locking mechanism — when locked, the glove seals completely to the suit and no water can enter. Inside the glove you wear a warm undergarment liner that stays dry throughout the dive, providing significantly more hand warmth than wet gloves over a wrist seal. Most dry glove systems can be retrofitted to an existing drysuit by a qualified technician — the wrist seal is removed and the ring assembly is bonded in its place. If you are considering a dry glove upgrade, contact us to discuss compatibility with your suit material and the installation process.

What should I inspect on my drysuit before each dive season?

Before your first dive of the season, work through this sequence: inflate the suit slightly and submerge it in a bathtub to check for pinhole leaks — bubbles will reveal any breach in the suit material or at seams and valves. Inspect all seals — latex and silicone seals should be supple with no cracks, nicks, or thin spots. Test the inflator and exhaust dump valves for proper function on the surface before entering the water — the inflator should click open and shut cleanly, and the exhaust valve should vent when pressed and seal when released. Check the zipper for smooth operation and lubricate if needed. If you find any issues, have them addressed by a qualified technician before diving. An annual pressure test by a professional technician is recommended for any drysuit used regularly in Canadian conditions.
