Frequently asked questions
Is it better to buy a mask and snorkel set or purchase them separately?
A set is the right choice for most snorkelers — the mask and snorkel are matched in quality, color, and price point, and sets are almost always less expensive than buying the same items individually. Buying separately makes sense if you have already found a mask that fits well and just need a snorkel to match, or if you want a higher-end snorkel than what is paired in a given set. If you are buying gear for the first time or as a gift, a set is the simpler and more economical option.
Can these sets be used for scuba diving as well as snorkeling?
Yes — all of the standard mask and snorkel sets in our range are suitable for both snorkeling and scuba diving. The masks meet the same quality standards we apply to our standalone scuba masks: soft silicone skirts and tempered glass lenses. The dry-top snorkels are used by scuba divers for surface swims and while waiting for their dive buddy or the boat. The one exception is full-face snorkeling masks, which are designed for surface snorkeling only and are not compatible with a scuba regulator.
Do you have mask and snorkel sets for kids?
Yes — we carry sets specifically sized for children, check out our Kid's section for current brands and models. Both use the same high quality silicone as the adult masks and are sized for smaller faces. Introducing kids to snorkeling with properly fitting gear makes a significant difference in their comfort and enjoyment in the water. Adult sets labelled "narrow fit" or "small face" may also fit older youth with larger faces.
What is a full-face snorkeling mask and is it in these sets?
A full-face snorkeling mask covers the entire face — mouth and nose — allowing you to breathe naturally through both without biting down on a snorkel mouthpiece. The snorkel is built into the top of the mask rather than held separately. They are popular with casual snorkelers who find a traditional mouthpiece uncomfortable, but they are designed for surface snorkeling only — they cannot be used with a scuba regulator and should not be used for breath-hold diving below the surface.
Can I add prescription lenses to a mask I buy as part of a set?
Yes — we have a couple of sets that include a mask that can have optical lenses added (look for "with optical lenses" in the product name). If you purchase a set without lenses and later decide you want vision correction, we can install pre-made lenses in those specific masks.
