Do the SDI e-learning courses count toward certification?

The SDI e-learning modules we carry are supplementary educational modules rather than standalone certification courses. The SDI Discover Scuba e-learning provides background knowledge to enhance a first pool or try-dive experience and is not a certification. The SDI Snorkeling e-learning provides snorkeling knowledge for someone new to the activity. The SDI Refresher Inactive Diver e-learning is an optional knowledge refresh for certified divers who have not dived in an extended period and want to review theory before an in-water refresher session. None of these replace an in-water training component. For full certification courses, contact us through The Dive Outfitters — we offer SDI certification from Open Water through Divemaster and specialty ratings.

Do I need to log my dives?

Yes - It is recommended to log all your open water dives in your logbook to help you track your experience. Your diver logbook will keep track of important details such as maximum depth, bottom time, water & weather conditions, equipment used, skills practiced, and even marine life that you encountered during the dive. Your logbook will serve as proof of your diving experience when you enroll in specialty and advanced scuba courses, joining in on dive charters, renting equipment, or participating in specialty dives (like a deep dive). Many divers find reviewing past dives in their logbooks is a great way to remember dive sites, marine life, and memorable underwater adventures.

Can I refill the Innovative Scuba 3-ring binder with any brand of log pages?

The Innovative Scuba binder uses a standard 3-ring configuration with a 7.5 by 10 inch page size — a common size that accepts pages from most dive logbook brands as long as the hole spacing and page dimensions match. We carry both Innovative Scuba refill pages (standard and tabbed versions) and the TDO Paper Log Pages 2-pack as compatible refills. If you are purchasing refill pages for a different brand of logbook binder, measure the page dimensions and hole spacing of your existing pages before ordering to confirm compatibility. Standard dive logbook pages from most major brands use the same 3-ring format and are generally interchangeable.
