Lionfish are an invasive species to the Caribbean and have now plagued most reefs throughout the southeast Atlantic and Caribbean Oceans. They are voracious predators and eaters. Studies of their stomach contents have revealed that they are not picky eaters and have been known to devastate fish populations on some reefs. With no known natural predators in those waters, removing the lionfish is part of the answer. Luckily, they are delicious! So hunting, cooking, and eating the lionfish has become a common practice around the Caribbean. Be careful when hunting lionfish as their beautiful spines are highly poisonous and should be avoided with bare hands or skin. More Information
